How to Purchase a Sporting Event
An additional registration fee is required.
Sporting Events may be added when you register for the conference. If you have already registered for the conference, then use the following instructions:

- Click Add Sessions & Events under Registration
- Add an item to your cart
- Submit payment information

ICMA offers several sporting activities during the ICMA Annual Conference to network and engage with your colleagues.

Pickleball Open Play

Get in a game during the conference with Pickleball Open Play at the Convention Center! This free, casual experience is open to all skill levels, whether you’re picking up a paddle for the first time or ready for some friendly match play. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP in advance to reserve a playing slot, with drop-in participation available as space allows. Courts will be available on select days during the week, making this an easy way to stay active, meet fellow attendees, and enjoy a little friendly competition between conference activities.

Churro 5K Run/Walk

Grab your running shoes and join us for a fun and meaningful start to the day at the LEO Churro 5K Run & Walk! Set along Long Beach’s scenic waterfront, this event invites participants of all levels to run or walk while taking in coastal views. Hosted in partnership with the City of Long Beach’s Latino Employees Organization (LEO), registration proceeds will support LEO’s scholarship fund, helping students pursue post-secondary education. With music, post-race churros, and a commemorative churro pin for participants, this event brings a local LBC touch to one of ICMA’s signature conference activities. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best or simply enjoying the route at your own pace, this is a great way to get moving, give back, and experience Long Beach during the conference.

Beach Volleyball Experience

Get ready to bump, set, and spike at the ICMA Beach Volleyball Experience! Join fellow attendees on the sand for a fun and energetic casual play in one of Long Beach’s most iconic beachfront settings. Whether you’re diving for every point or just enjoying the atmosphere, this event offers a great mix of recreation and connection. A dedicated instructor-led court will be available for participants looking to learn or sharpen their skills, while additional courts will accommodate a range of play from recreational to competitive. This experience takes place at Alamitos Beach, the planned Long Beach venue for beach volleyball during the 2028 Olympic Games and Blind Football during the 2028 Paralympic Games, offering attendees a unique opportunity to play in a future world-class competition setting while enjoying the best of Long Beach’s coastline.

Soccer in the LBC

Head out for a fun and active morning of soccer in Long Beach! Designed for a range of skill levels, this event offers attendees a chance to get on the field, enjoy the California sunshine, and take part in some friendly match play. Whether you play regularly or are simply looking to join in, this is a fun way to experience the LBC during the conference. Shuttle transportation will be provided to and from the event.

Coastal Current Adventures Package

Event Location: Leeway Sailing & Aquatics Center
Cost: $45
Experience Long Beach’s waterway with the Coastal Adventures Water Sports Experience! Participants will rotate through activities including sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding while enjoying a fun and memorable time on the water. Whether you’re trying something new or already comfortable in a waterfront setting, this experience offers a great way to enjoy Long Beach’s coastal environment through a variety of guided activities. Professional introductory instruction will be provided for each activity, along with on-water staff support to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Shuttle transportation will be provided to and from the event.
