Early Career/Region Discounts

Here is some further information to help understand who qualifies for Early-Career to Department Head Member and Region Discounts:

Early-Mid Career to Department Head Member: $570 Best Value Rate/$660 Regular Rate

Early-career professionals, defined as ICMA U.S. Affiliate Members who are entry-level local government staff up to and including department heads qualify for the discount.

Currently an ICMA member who works in local government in an early career (such as analyst), Mid-Management or Department Head role.

First-Time in Conference Region Member: $685 Best Value Rate/$775 Regular Rate

ICMA Members working in the conference region who are attending their first ICMA conference qualify for the discount.

Currently an ICMA member who has never attended the conference before and works for the local government in the west coast region (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.)

First Time in Conference Region and Early-Mid Career to Dept. Head Member: $340 Best Value Rate/$425 Regular Rate

ICMA Affiliate Members working in the conference region who are attending their first ICMA conference qualify for the discount. Early-career professionals, defined as ICMA U.S. Affiliate Members who are entry-level local government staff up to and including department heads qualify for the discount.

Currently an ICMA member who has never attended the conference before and works for the local government in the west coast region (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington) in an early career (such as analyst), Mid-Management or Department Head Role.

Examples

  1. You attended the 2025 ICMA Annual Conference in Tampa but you work in Oregon. Do I qualify for the First-Time in Region Member discount?

Answer: No, unfortunately you do not qualify for the discount as Long Beach would not be your first Annual Conference.

  1. I work in Texas and have never attended an Annual Conference before. Would I qualify for the First-Time in Region Member discount?

Answer: No, unfortunately you do not qualify for the discount as you do not work in a west coast region.
