COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Updated: January 4, 2024

ICMA’s number one priority is the health and safety of our event participants and industry partners. Our goal is to hold a safe event, recognizing it is not possible to remove all risks, in particular concerning COVID-19. ICMA will put required measures in place to provide a safe environment for its event attendees. Policies for each meeting will be set according to CDC and public health recommendations, federal, state, and local regulations applicable at the time of the event, and what ICMA deems necessary to manage the risk for its event attendees. ICMA may change, update, or add to these requirements at any time as it deems prudent to best protect the health and safety of attendees and others, and attendees must comply with relevant policies and requirements as communicated by ICMA.

ICMA cannot be held liable for COVID-19 cases arising because of event attendance.

ICMA currently requires all 2024 ICMA Annual Conference attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and guests to agree to a COVID-19 Safety Protocol Waiver and Acknowledgement during the registration process.

Health Recommendations

ICMA recommends that all participants screen themselves daily for symptoms. If an individual is feeling sick or display any of the following symptoms, please do not attend in-person:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Sore Throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Individuals experiencing these symptoms should get tested for COVID-19. Additionally, the individual should remove themselves from the event and notify event organizers. Protect yourself with frequent hand washing/sanitizing and minimize face touching.
